Cat vanishes after serious car accident – years later, her owner receives shocking news

Fraserburgh, UK - Six years ago, Billy Bowie was involved in a car accident that sent a carrier with his beloved cat, Pandora, onto the road. The furry friend escaped and fled in a panic, and she has been missing ever since. But a few weeks ago, Bowie and his wife received a call that changed everything!

In 2020, the Bowies were on their way to a new life, moving from Colchester to Fraserburgh. The British man drove ahead in his van, while his wife followed in the car.

"I didn't see the accident as we were a mile or so behind, but obviously it was an enormous shock when we arrived at the scene," Bowie's wife, Mary, told the BBC.

"When we realized Pandora was missing, we were absolutely distraught. We spent some time looking for her, but because Billy needed to rest and recuperate, we reluctantly had to continue on our journey," she explained.

The couple later searched for the cat and made several trips back to the crash site, which was more than two hours away, in the hopes of finding her.

Pandora was nowhere to be found – until August 2026, that is!

A woman had repeatedly noticed a cat trying to get into her house, so she called the animal welfare organization Cats Protection.

On site, volunteer Fiona Morrison quickly managed to catch the animal. "I scanned for a microchip and was delighted to see that there was one," she told the BBC.

Mary Bowie was celebrating her 62nd birthday when the phone rang.

It turned out to be the "biggest and best" birthday surprise, she said.

Of course, the Bowies soon set off to bring Pandora home after all those years.

"She immediately responded to her name, and she is still very attached to our grandson," the owner gushed.

Now the cat can finally enjoy a proper life with her forever family once again!
