Houston, Texas – "Houston, we have a problem!" Three women from Texas were astonished to see six dogs approach them on the street without an owner in sight. Eventually, rescuers would find four more. What in the world was going on?

The Shih Tzus and Pekingese looked pretty rundown, their coats matted and filthy.

Apparently, the poor animals seemed to have been abandoned by their owner all at once.

The women, who were neighbors, tried to catch the small dogs and get them to safety off the street.

They managed to catch no more than two of the furry pups, however.

The Texans then alerted the local animal‑rescue services, as The Dodo reports.

A day later, the remaining four dogs were captured.

It later emerged that their owner had abandoned another four dogs at a different location in Houston.

In total, ten dogs from the same owner were abandoned, a situation that overwhelmed the already crowded shelter and forced it to hit the emergency brake.

The staff received help from "CAMO Rescue," the very shelter that had already taken in the remaining four dogs. In the end, all ten furry friends ended up there.

Holly Dool, the organization’s founder, told The Dodo that "they’re very shy and barely socialized."

Because of this, they should be placed in a home that already has a dog they can look to for guidance.

Meanwhile, Dool’s shelter is bursting at the seams.

"We have more dogs in the rescue than we have ever had before," she said.

"Our facility was built to house about 75 dogs, and we have over 110 dogs there now and over 225 dogs in foster homes. We are having to do more with less!"

Hopefully, despite these challenging circumstances, the ten sweet little furballs can be matched with the right people and find their new forever homes.
