Bulldog saved from euthanasia has heartbreaking method of self-soothing "when he's lonely"

Ventura, California – A shelter has issued a desperate appeal for a rescued dog that has yet to find a forever home. In his loneliness, the four‑legged friend is already trying to comfort himself, breaking the hearts of the caretakers.

An English Bulldog named Bangles narrowly escaped death recently when animal welfare activists rescued him from euthanasia just in time.

What followed, however, was not a happy ending but the start of a frustrating ordeal.

"Bangles was supposed to die... He was saved from euthanasia when a foster stepped up, but after being returned, he's back to spending his days in a kennel," the organization Pupfairytails wrote in an Instagram post promoting the little guy.

"One of the hardest things to watch is how he comforts himself – Bangles sucks on his blanket when he's lonely," they added.

In the accompanying video footage, you can see the dog curled up on his little dog bed, self-soothing.

Indeed, a few shelter visitors showed interest in the white‑and‑brown pooch.

None had the necessary experience with this breed and Bangles' unique needs, however.

Now they hope to find him "an experienced handler and an adult-only home."

It's also important that he must be the only pet in his future placement, they noted.

"We fought to save his life. Now we need someone to give him the home he was promised. A couch. A routine. A person to call his own," the shelter says in their IG post.

"Please choose Bangles," they beg.
