Dog heroically intervenes when owner's ex attacks her with a gun
Seattle, Washington – On November 19, 2024, 27‑year‑old Lauren Wiggins was attacked by her ex‑partner, who even pointed a weapon at her. The fact that she is still alive today is owed to her dog Judah, who bravely threw himself between her and the assailant – and nearly lost his own life in the process.
For three years, Lauren was in a happy relationship with her partner, believing she had found her soulmate in him.
The two even got engaged, but everything changed when her partner suddenly revealed his true colors and, according to Need To Know, turned violent.
Lauren knew she had to leave him. When she packed her belongings in their shared apartment that November, the situation escalated to the point where her ex drew a weapon and started firing.
Her dog, a male Cane Corso named Judah, lunged at the man without hesitation and bit a chunk out of his face.
In the chaos, Judah was hit, taking a bullet to the head and another to the shoulder. Lauren feared at the time that she had lost her beloved four‑legged companion in the attack.
"I thought he had died," she recalled of the terrifying moment.
Dog was struck by two bullets – and survived
After the incident, the then‑25‑year‑old was taken to a hospital and learned only a day later that Judah had survived.
Despite his serious injuries, the dog managed to fight his way back to life.
"I'm grateful that we both survived and our journey together didn't end that night," she says today.
She had received Judah as a gift when she was 19. He was meant to be there for her whenever she needed protection: "I just never thought the day would actually come."
Even now, she feels guilty that the Cane Corso risked his life for her.
Her ex‑fiancé, who was responsible for the incident involving her and her dog, is now out on the streets again. He was released on parole in July 2026.
