North Bay, Canada – In a viral video on Instagram, precious dog Tucker can’t take his eyes off something he’s watching through a crack on the balcony. What exactly the dog is so fascinated by makes hearts melt!

The video shows the four‑legged friend standing completely still on the balcony. His owner approaches and leans toward the gap that Tucker is staring at so intently.

Then it becomes clear: under the balcony there’s a nest with a few freshly hatched chicks, their beaks wide open. The little youngsters obviously aren’t getting enough attention from the dog.

This keen observation by Tucker has touched many people on Instagram, as it's garnered more than 4 million views and counting, along with about 160,000 likes.

In an interview with The Dodo, Erika Ashley Ann – Tucker’s owner – said she was initially puzzled by the strange behavior of her usually active Bull Terrier during the first few days.

“I happened to notice that he was lying in a very specific spot on my balcony and would frequently peek between the boards,” Erika told The Dodo. “Bull terriers are very clownish but curious dogs.”.

It was only after a few days that she took a closer look.

“I knew a robin had built a nest, but the batch of babies I was aware of from last month had left the nest,” Erika said.

“I didn't realize she had more, but Tucker seemed to know and was keeping a close eye on them. Now that they're chirping, he wants to be outside and peeks at them through the deck boards," she added.

The performance probably won't last much longer. Still, Tucket the dog is enjoying it: "He continues going out on the balcony to visit his tiny neighbors,” Erika said. “He is a sweetheart.”
