Dog rescuer leaps into action to save abandoned pup: "My heart just sank"
California - He still seemed to be waiting for someone – someone who would probably never show up again. When Suzette Hall was informed by locals about the dog, they described exactly where he was sitting. When the animal‑rights activist arrived, he hadn't moved at all, but as she approached him, everything changed.
"He had been dumped. When I received the picture of him just lying there, waiting, my heart broke into a million pieces," Hall wrote on her Facebook page.
For that reason, she rushed to rescue the furry friend. "I couldn't let him wait anymore. I just couldn't," the animal lover said.
But there was a problem: When Hall tried to approach the dog, he bolted immediately. He was terrified of her and fled at full speed.
"Oh, sweet baby. My heart just sank," she admitted.
In the end, Hall set her trap when the four‑legged friend was out of sight. Then, she got into her car and drove down the road for a while.
After she turned around, Hall could hardly believe her eyes.
Suzette Hall says the abandoned dog was "desperately hungry"
"HE WAS ALREADY IN MY TRAP!!!" she wrote, astonished.
"He was so hungry. So desperately hungry. That poor little tummy must have been empty for so long," Hall added.
Following the surprisingly swift rescue of the dog, the animal welfare activist felt even more relieved.
"You never have to wonder where your next meal will come from," she wrote.
Nevertheless, a true happy ending for the dog is still a ways off. He will first need to undergo a veterinary examination and then be placed in a shelter.
