USA – Feeling a stranger's breath on the back of your neck is enough to give anyone a heart attack. But jump scares aren't just a human experience – a viral video of a cow and a dog proves the animal kingdom gets spooked just as easily!

If you scroll through TikTok, you’ll find plenty of videos starring Rufus, a goofy Golden Retriever. But last month, his owner captured a special moment that quickly became the dog’s most successful video of all time.

In the 15‑second clip, the sweet pup appears to be on a farm. But he isn’t alone! Sitting obediently in front of a barn, several cows can be seen in the background.

It’s immediately clear why the video went viral: Rufus gives a look that says more than words can convey. The dog looks nervous, if not downright panicked.

Right behind him, a cow moves in for a close encounter, sniffs the good boy's head, and proceeds to get closer and closer. Rufus appeared quite confused, as his puptastic brown eyes kept darting upward as if he wanted to watch the cow but was still too terrified to turn around to face it.

There was no reason for serious concern, though, as the dog happily runs off at the end of the clip, unaware of the fame those few seconds would bring! The clip now has nearly 50 million views! More than 6 million users also liked the video – and we understand why!

But anyone who browses Rufus’ channel will notice that the Golden Retriever doesn’t only make that face around cows, as seen in the clip above at the zoo.
