Golden retriever's wake-up call ends in hilarious sleepy fail: "Nice way to wake up!"

New Jersey - That's one cute, albeit faulty, doggy alarm clock! This golden retriever was given a simple task: gently wake up your toddler human brother so he doesn't get mad. When that wake-up call backfired, this precious pup decided to get it on the nap action, and the internet is here for every second of what happened next!

A New Jersey family often enlists the help of its "nanny dog" to greet the kids when they first wake up. But not every wake-up mission ends with the kiddo getting out of bed.

In one instance, the golden retriever "nanny" was tasked with waking up the fam's three-year-old who was sound asleep, and they documented the encounter on Instagram.

In the clip, the family explains they needed to wake their son up from an "impromptu" nap, noting one small problem: "The thing is...he gets mad when we wake him up."

Enter: the family golden retriever, Skylar.

Upon excitedly entering the room for the adorable wake-up call, the doggo assesses the situation, staring at her "brother" from outside his bed before jumping on top of it!

She then sniffs the toddler before giving him a few kisses. The owner and parents note that their son must've been really tired as he didn't budge, leading the dog to plop down at the end of the bed – as if she's joining in on naptime!

"Such a nice way to wake up," one Instagram user commented.

"She’s like today mum, I think I’m going to join him!" another user wrote.

In more recent videos posted on the account, Skylar the golden retriever is seen doing her morning rounds with both kids, who seem to really enjoy her presence!

Some social media users even joked that the way Skylar attempted to wake up her human siblings was similar to how their family dog would wake up their moody teenagers. Classic!
