Little boy can't stop crying when he finds an abandoned dog – then his mom makes a heartwarming choice

Columbus, Georgia - Sadly, it's common for dogs to be abandoned at gas stations. But for a little boy named Reese, he simply couldn't believe what happened to this furry friend.

Reese cried his eyes out when he realizes the dog's miserable situation. Thankfully, the boy's mom was ready to make her son's dream come true.

At the end of the Labor Day weekend, Alexandra Luckey was driving her family back from Florida to Atlanta.

On the way home, the Luckeys stopped at a gas station in Columbus, Georgia.

To their surprise, they were greeted there by a good‑natured pit bull.

"He came right up to us and was so friendly," the mother said in an interview with The Dodo.

After speaking with the station staff, it became clear that the dog had been abandoned there some time ago.

Alexandra's son Reese (6) was utterly heartbroken.

He stood beside the dog, crying, unable to believe that anyone could have left the animal behind. His parents captured the moment on video and soon began to reflect on it.

Alexandra and her husband Rollins wondered if it would be possible to just take the pit bull with them.

In the end, they took the plunge.

"I'm a dog lover, so I was like, 'Let's just take him,'" Alexandra told the pet magazine.

They even filmed their first days with Clark, as the family now calls him.

Last week, Alexandra posted a clip on Instagram, which opens with her son Reese shedding bitter tears.

Since then, the video has amassed more than 290,000 views and garnered plenty of emotional comments.

Alexandra has also cleared up the remaining uncertainties about her new pet. Thanks to research in a local Facebook group in Columbus, she discovered that Clark's former owner truly wants nothing to do with the dog.

Now, his new life can truly begin. "I feel like our family’s complete with him," said the proud owner.
