Cayman Islands - What was supposed to be a great dive for the whole family got scary when a school of hammerhead sharks made a suprise appearance.

Last month, Marjorie Lounds (46) from Phoenix, Arizona, traveled to the Cayman Islands with her five children. Lounds and four of her kids are certified scuba divers, so the family decided to go for a dive.

The family adventure took a terrifying turn once Lounds' 19‑year‑old son and 13-year-old daughter were in the water.

"As I was getting ready with my 16-year-old son, my oldest suddenly said he was looking directly at three hammerhead sharks," Lounds told Newsweek.

Screams of "Oh my God" echo throughout the mama's video posted to Instagram. The clip is ironically captioned: "I hope I see a fish."

The footage shows a large hammerhead shark swimming towards her son, before abruptly turning towards her daughter and disappearing.

Lounds' wild video has garnered 1.3 million views.

Now, Lounds can look back on the incident with ease and described it as an "unforgettable moment, and definitely not what any of us expected for the start of the dive!"

Hammerhead sharks, while they look terrifying, aren't actually much of a threat to humans.

According to the International Shark Attack File, the animals have been involved in 18 attacks around the world, though none of them have been fatal.

They are considered "potentially dangerous sharks" as they take on a threatening posture when close to divers.

Luckily for Lounds' family, when this school of hammerheads got close, they just darted away.
