Mira Monte, California – Jackie, Big Bear's famous bald eagle, has died after multiple weeks of intensive care. The California eagle and her partner Shadow had six chicks at their large nest in Big Bear and were watched and loved around the world.

"It is with profound sadness that we share that Patient 26-519 passed away in the early hours of this morning, following more than three weeks of intensive medical care," the care team at Ojai Raptor Center wrote on Instagram Monday night.

Jakie, the winged matriarch of the famous Big Bear's Eagle Nest Cam, which is believed to be around 14 years old, had been receiving care at the Ojai Raptor Center.

The Friends of Big Bear Valley and Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam, the nonprofit responsible for the beloved eagle livestream, confirmed the sad news on Facebook, writing: "Please be kind to yourself, to others, to the FOBBV team and to those at the Ojai Raptor Center. Soar free Jackie…"

In July, Jackie ended up at Ojai Raptor Center after a fight with two other eagles.

Following the skirmish, the center said that Jackie was unable to fly, weak, and underweight. While the fight may have grounded the bird, her condition pointed to a longer illness.

Jackie had been receiving intensive care for severe anemia, as LAist reported. The famous raptor received oxygen therapy and around-the-clock monitoring, but remained very sick.

For weeks, the veterinary team struggled to figure out what was causing the eagle's anemia before she ultimately succumbed to her illness.

Jackie's life as a livesteamer began in 2016 when she took over her parents' nest in California's Big Bear Valley. There, she had her first clutch with her previous partner, Mr. B.

Jackie's current mate, Shadow, came into the picture in 2018 and hung around until Mr. B flew off.

Shadow and Jackie successfully raised six chicks together, including two born this year.
