Israel - Yasir Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was recently evacuated from his home in the US due to an alleged threat against his life.
According to Newsmax, Israeli intelligence in December uncovered an Iranian plot to assassinate Yasir in Miami, Florida, where he had resided since 2023. The threats were quickly passed on to US authorities.
A US source told the outlet that Israel claimed Iranian operatives were already "on the ground" in the area, and had conducted surveillance on Yasir.
On Saturday, Israel's Shin Bet security agency confirmed Yasir's removal in a statement, but refused to provide any more details.
"There was indeed a significant threat to harm Yasir Netanyahu, and in light of this, following a situation assessment, a decision was made to extract him together with his security team urgently back to Israel," the statement read.
Prime Minister Netanyahu continues to face condemnation from around the world over his bombardment of Gaza – found to be a genocide by the UN – and joint war alongside President Donald Trump in Iran.
Last week, during an interview with Channel 14, Netanyahu mentioned Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his two sons, but did not specify which.
In an X post shared Monday, Yasir described the attack on October 7 as "the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust," and argued Israel has experienced "hostility, antisemitism, and blood libels" over its response.
