Israel - An Israeli official on Wednesday revealed the country is seeking to expel Palestinians from Gaza, but they need President Donald Trump's support to move forward with the plan.
During an interview, Israeli defense minister Israel Katz said the country was "organized and prepared to get them out by sea, by air, by every way possible." He argued there was "no real solution for Gaza in the end without this migration."
Katz went on to say their efforts are being delayed by other countries who have been critical of Israel's handling of the conflict, though he believes that can change if the US approves.
"Every country that is willing wants American backing. Currently, President Trump didn't cancel this; he froze it," he explained.
"The moment will come… When it becomes clear that Hamas is not meeting its commitment."
Katz's remarks come as Israel continues to face global condemnation for their occupation of Gaza. The US continues to be one of Israel's closest allies, with Trump insisting on continuing to send billions of dollars to the country annually.
The country has long pitched the idea of expelling Palestinians from the region, but critics have argued such a move would be a war crime and akin to ethnic cleansing.
Trump has also discussed taking over the Gaza strip, once sharing an AI-generated video that featured him and Netanyahu turning it into a resort, though he has since backed away from such rhetoric.
