Jalud, Palestine - The Foreign Press Association (FPA) in Israel said it was "deeply alarmed" following reports that radical Israeli settlers attacked a US television crew in the occupied West Bank.

The incident was not isolated but part of a "recurring pattern of violence against members of the press and Palestinian civilians," the association said in a statement.

According to media reports, settlers attacked members of a US television crew and a Palestinian family on Saturday, leaving a man and a woman injured.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said the incident occurred in the village of Jalud, near Nablus. NBC News said that members of its team were attacked, including correspondent Matt Bradley.

The journalists had accompanied a Palestinian family to their home, which they had been forced to flee from due to Israeli settlers.

WAFA reported that the settlers smashed the windshield of a vehicle carrying NBC News staff, among other damage.

"They jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car," NBC News quoted Bradley as saying. He was struck twice on the arm and was later treated at a clinic.

The Israeli military said security forces were operating in Jalud "to prevent further unrest and restore order." It said it "strongly condemns all forms of violence."

The Foreign Press Association called on Israeli authorities to hold those responsible accountable and immediately take concrete steps to ensure the safety of journalists in the West Bank.
