Nancy Mace reacts after huge tattoo reveal prompts unwanted commentary
Columbia, South Carolina - Congresswoman Nancy Mace reacted with annoyance after her tattooed arms triggered unwanted commentary online, and said she got the inkings to "reclaim" her body.
Having dramatically lost her run for the Republican nomination in South Carolina's gubernatorial race back in June – only picking up about 12.1% of the vote – Mace has launched a new YouTube show.
During one episode of her show, she appeared in a singlet top as opposed to her usual long sleeves, putting on full display the true extent of her radical ink collection.
Large quantities of tattoos coat each of her arms, including religious symbols, animals, bits of writing, and various other pictures and designs.
"I like tattoos and think yours are well done," wrote Derek Guy, a menswear writer, on X. "I'm curious what inspired you to get the opening line of Mrs. Dalloway tattooed on your arm."
"Dalloway, as you know, is buying flowers for her dinner party," he continued. "But it's at the dinner party where she wrestles with her homosexual memories of, and desires for, her friend Sally."
"Although you voted for gay marriage twice, you've made disparaging remarks about gay people. Would that book, written by a bisexual feminist, not be against your moral values?"
His comment came after Nancy Mace slapped back against people who had begun discussing her tattoos online, as well as the numerous news outlets that had reported on them. On Tuesday, she even posted a video addressing the matter on YouTube.
"Thoughts and prayers to all those affected by my sleeves," she had posted to X. "Made the mistake of opening my social media this afternoon. Some of y'all are OUT OF CONTROL!"
"My biceps should NOT be a news story. We have more important things to worry about," she said. "Goodness. And God Bless America."
