According to TMZ, Carter was advised by his lawyer to create a will after he and his ex-fiancé Melanie Martin gave birth to their son Prince Carter back in November 2021.

Fortunately, California law states that if a parent dies without a will, their assets are automatically left to their next of kin.

The star tragically passed away on November 5 after his body was discovered in a bathtub. While his exact cause of death has not been determined, his famous brother, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, said "addiction and mental illness" are to blame.

Aaron Carter and Martin had their fair share of break-up and make-up drama leading up to his death, so much so that Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services had Prince removed from their home nearly a year ago. The infant has been living with Martin's mother since.

TMZ also reported that Carter was "not in a good place financially" when he passed, but his Lancaster, California, home is currently on the market – which may secure a sizable amount of profit for young Prince.

Carter was also working on a memoir before his death, titled Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life. It has been fast-tracked since his death and is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Carter's cause of death remains unknown as the toxicology report is still pending.
