Los Angeles, California - Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's reunion has set the internet ablaze! Though some are itching for Bennifer 2.0, there is one person in particular who is apparently surprised by the news, Alex Rodriguez.

After 17 years, it seems that Lopez and Affleck may be giving love another try. The former couple has been spotted together twice within the past week, which all but confirms the two could be rekindling their romance.

However, while this is every millennial's dream, Rodriguez, who ended his engagement with the singer last month, is said to be "shocked" by the news.

"He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect. He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him," a source told E! News.

The former MLB player isn't the only one who thought that exes would make it work. After Lopez and Rodriguez announced their break-up, the two were seen having dinner together at the same restaurant where they had their first date.

Before A. Rod and J.Lo split, the athlete flew out to the Dominican Republic to visit Lopez on the set of her new film, Shotgun Wedding. Despite this, the pair's four-year relationship reportedly came to an end because Lopez couldn't trust Rodriguez.

The former Yankee player was accused of cheating on the Selena actor with Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy.

Nonetheless, there are others who are hopeful that Bennifer is back on. On Tuesday during an interview with the Today show, Matt Damon offered his thoughts on the news that his longtime pal could be reuniting with his former love.

"It's a fascinating story. I hope it's true. I love them both. I hope it's true. That would be awesome," the actor shared.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck began dating in 2002 after meeting on the set of the movie, Gigli. The two became engaged months later.

In 2004, the actors broke off their engagement due to the intense media scrutiny surrounding their relationship.

Following their split, Lopez and Affleck spoke highly of one another and were said to have been "friends" throughout the years.
