Kaluuya (33) first shared the news with Rotten Tomatoes, explaining that it was due to schedule conflicts that came up as he was filming for Jordan Peele's upcoming sci-fi horror film Nope.

A source told Variety that Kaluuya was asked to be in the film, but he turned it down because he had already committed to the project with Peele.

The sequel, titled Wakanda Forever, has been faced with constant road blocks including the Covid-19 pandemic, and the death of star Chadwick Boseman in August 2020, who played the movie's main character in the first film.

Instead of recasting Boseman, the studio decided to use the sequel "explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film."

Production finally ended in March and Wakanda Forever is scheduled for release on November 11.

The good news is that we'll be able to see Daniel Kaluuya starring in Jordan Peele's much-anticipated new film, Nope, which releases in theaters on July 22.
