Los Angeles, California - Actor Eva Mendes has caused great speculation among her fans with a small tattoo. Did she and Ryan Gosling secretly get married?

The reason for all the fuss stems from a specific photo that Eva posted on her Instagram account.

The photo shows the brown-eyed beauty intensely staring into the camera, holding her forearm in front of her face to show off her new ink that appears to read: "de gosling." The name suffix "de" is common in many parts of Latin America to connect one's own name with the name of their betrothed.

The actor only captioned the snap with three emojis: two black hearts sandwiching two crossed swords. From the looks of it, it seems like Eva was confessing her love for Ryan in a permanent way.

But after a closer look at the comments, it seems the tattoo isn't brand-spanking-new after all.

When asked whether the ink was real by hair and makeup artist Steeve Daviault, Eva quipped: "um... it's old. you've seen it many times before." Her response probably caused even more confusion amongst her fans and nosey IG users.

Of course, any comment from her sweetheart in question is nowhere to be found on social media due to the fact that Gosling simply isn't about that life.

The two have been a couple for more than ten years and have two children together. Though there have been a few times when the pair were rumored to have split, Eva's latest post seems to suggest otherwise.
