The 39-year-old actor, who is known for her royal film and TV roles, casually dropped her heartwarming news on Dame Esther Rantzen's (80) podcast That's After Life! on Wednesday.

"It's just the perfect thing to do during a pandemic - get pregnant, have a baby," Dormer joked.

The Brit gushed about her baby girl, now almost three months old, and called her an "absolute joy."

"People always say, 'Your whole perspective on life is going to change, and your whole value system,' and you kind of roll your eyes and go, 'Yeah, yeah'. And then you have one and you're like, 'Oh. Wow!'"

Yet, being a new mom has its downsides. Dormer said she has had to give up the one thing that has always been incredibly important to her: her much-loved sleep.

"I'll never complain about shooting time again," she said.

Natalie Dormer played Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones

The actor plans to take a break from on-camera work

Dormer became known for her regal acting roles as Anne Boleyn on The Tudors and Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones. She also appeared in the last two movies in The Hunger Games franchise.

Yet, she said her on-camera work will likely be put on hold for the time being, as she shifts her focus.

In addition to becoming a mom, she now plans to return to stage acting – as she did when she debuted at London's Young Vic theater in 2010.

"I think this is the perfect time for me to step back on stage," she said on this week's podcast.

London theater is a sentimental place for the actor. She met her partner, actor David Oakes (37) in 2019 while working on the West End play Venus in Fur. The couple and their new bundle of joy currently live in the London borough of Richmond.

The Game of Thrones franchise recently announced its plans to debut an on-stage spectacular. Perhaps the actor will next appear in the new live show.
