Justin Bieber cancels tour dates after serious health problem
Toronto, Canada - Justin Bieber updated his fans on his scary health diagnosis that's caused part of his face to be paralyzed.
On Friday, the Juke Jam singer revealed on Instagram that he is taking a break from performing because he is suffering from paralysis on one side of his face.
In the clip posted to his account, Justin explained that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which has left him unable to move half of his face and unable to take the stage.
"IMPORTANT PLEASE WATCH. I love you guys and keep me in your prayers," the singer captioned the clip, which shows just how noticeable the condition is.
"It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis," the 28-year-old says, with the entire right side of his face clearly immobile.
"As you can see this eye is not blinking. I can't smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. So there's full paralysis on this side of my face," he adds.
What is Ramsey Hunt syndrome?
Per the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome "occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears."
In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome "can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear."
The Canadian pop star also addressed recently postponing three shows on his 2022 Justice World Tour which he's "physically, obviously, not capable of doing them."
"This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn't the case, but, obviously, my body's telling me I've got to slow down, and I hope you guys understand. I'll be using this time to rest and relax and get back to 100% so that I can do what I was born to do," Justin said.
"We don't know how much time it's gonna be but it's gonna be ok and I have hope and I trust God and I trust that this is all gonna, it's all for a reason and I'm not sure what that is right now but in the meantime, I'm gonna rest. I love you guys, peace."
