Best known for his role as Mitchell Pritchett in one of TV comedy's best known families, the 47-year-old is now expanding his own.

And in keeping with his play's namesake, it was quite literally "Take Me Out" for the Broadway star on Tuesday night.

"We ran off to welcome our newest little one, Sullivan Louis Ferguson-Mikita," Ferguson announced on Instagram on Tuesday night in a joint post with his husband Justin Mikita, as he missed his Broadway performance.

The parents were pictured holding their new baby who was born via surrogate, just like their first son, Beckett Mercer, in 2020. Ferguson's character on Modern Family opted for adoption instead.

"We are overjoyed to now be a family of four," the post added.

Ferguson is currently starring in Take Me Out, set within the locker room of a Major League Baseball team, alongside TV actor Jesse Williams. The newborn made his Instagram debut in a onesie emblazoned with the show's baseball team.

"I will be back in the ball game on Thursday," Ferguson wrote.

The bundle of joy's arrival was met with an outpouring of congratulations from famous faces including Sarah Hyland, Amanda Seyfried, Uzo Aduba, Vanessa Williams, and Sophia Bush.

After the end of Modern Family's 11th and final season, the actor publicly declared that he wanted to concentrate on raising his family alongside Mikita, a fellow actor and producer. The two have been married since 2013.

The pair announced they were expecting baby number two on Instagram in May with a $25,000 donation each to the ACLU, the National Abortion Federation, and Everytown for Gun Safety.

Ferguson included a new photo of a nursery on his Instagram story early Wednesday morning, writing, "Welcome Home Sullivan."
