The disgraced star, who was convicted on Monday of sex trafficking and is facing life in prison, has become the laughingstock of Twitter users bragging about being richer than the rapper.

The I Believe I Can Fly singer's fortune in his prime is said to have been as high as $100 million. Yet, he has apparently now fallen into immense debt.

Celebrity Net Worth reported that R. Kelly's account is currently a whopping $2 million in the red.

The website has cited statements made by Kelly in court, in which he claimed that he owes around $1.9 million to the IRS alone.

The amount is said to have once even been as high as $20 million owed to the IRS.

Over the years, he has reportedly paid tens of millions of dollars to settle dozens of lawsuits made by women who have accused him of abuse, for an expensive divorce, and for child support. He has also lost multiple homes due to foreclosure and inability to make payments.

In 2018, the 54-year-old released a 19-minute song on Spotify where he said he was broke and needs to tour "just to pay rent."

Now, Twitter is abuzz with users relishing in having more money than the musician who managed to hide his crimes in plain sight over years.
