Los Angeles, California - Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have decided to end their relationship, leaving their fans heartbroken for the former couple.

On Wednesday, the two announced their sudden breakup in a joint statement on Instagram.

Mendes and Cabello, who had been friends for years, began dating in 2019 and quickly became a popular celebrity couple.

"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as human is stronger than ever " the statement read which they both shared on their IG stories.

It continued, "We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward, Camila and Shawn."

Naturally, fans were taken aback by the news, especially since things seemed to be going well between the two.

Earlier this month, Shawn and Camila shared pics of their Dia de los Muertos-inspired Halloween costumes.

In August, while speaking with to Audacy Check In, the Treat You Better singer shared that his relationship with the former Fifth Harmony member "got stronger" while quarantining together in Miami.

They also performed their hit song,"Señorita" at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.

So where did all go wrong?

Interestingly enough, when the pop stars first began dating, it was rumored the romance was a publicity stunt to promote the sultry track.

Of course, both Shawn and Camila denied these claims at the time.

However, their recent split has reignited these rumors on social media.
