Taylor Swift squashes rumors of beef with SZA
Los Angeles, California - Taylor Swift and SZA may be battling it out on the music charts, but there's nothing but love between these two popular artists.
Swift celebrated yet another milestone for her latest album Midnights, as its lead single Anti-Hero was officially deemed her longest-leading number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
With eight weeks at the top spot, Anti-Hero has surpassed the 33-year-old's previous longest-running first-place hit, Blank Space.
Midnights' wide-spread success was record-breaking and led to a fan frenzy.
Then, enter SZA.
Last December, the Shirt artist dropped her sophomore album, SOS. The record has been a formidable opponent to Swift's continued reign on the charts, with its catchy lead single Kill Bill going viral on TikTok. The song is holding strong beneath Anti-Hero at number two on the Hot 100 this week.
Naturally, stans did what they do best and pitted the singers against one another as they battled for the top spot, but the rumors are just that – rumors.
Taylor Swift and SZA exchange compliments on social media
Earlier this month, SZA slammed any fan-fueled theories about a rivalry between the pair after SOS dethroned Midnights on the Apple Music charts.
"Uhh I feel silly that I even have to say this but i see supporters arguing and I hate that," she wrote on Twitter. "I don’t have beef w ANYONE especially not Taylor lmao I genuinely loved her album and the writing!"
On Tuesday, Swift celebrated Anti-Hero's latest chart achievement with an Instagram story that also gave a nod to the Kill Bill singer.
"What on earth I love you guys," she wrote. She added a PS message telling fans that she's been listening to SOS "nonstop."
"Absolutely adore her music," Swift said. "So much love and respect for her!!"
Here's hoping that this mutual admiration may lead to a T. Swift/SZA collab!
