New Zealand – Lorde just dropped a scenic music video for her short yet lyrically powerful single, Leader of a New Regime.

Leave it to Lorde to rely on a serene setting that creates visual motifs to carry the weight of a music video.

To be fair, that's exactly what her two-verse single, Leader of a New Regime, called for, and she delivered in a visually powerful way.

The one-and-a-half minute video, which was released on December 21 and directed by Lorde and Joel Kefali, showcases the singer wandering across a secluded and deserted beach, taking in the mesmerizing views atop cliffs and on horseback.

While it's a short and sweet, the video is packed with symbolism and notion of serenity and starting anew.

As the 25-year-old takes in the ever-expanding beauty provided by mother nature, she begs, "Won't somebody, anybody, be the leader of a new regime? Free the keepers of the burnt-out scene another day. Lust and paranoia reign supreme, we need the leader of a new regime."

This marks the fourth single that's gotten the music video treatment from Lorde's third studio album, Solar Power, which was released on August 20.

While fans have gravitated towards the album, it failed to garner a single Grammy nomination for the 64th Grammy Awards, which is set to take place on January 31.
