Rage Against the Machine cancels North American tour dates

Los Angeles, California - Rage Against the Machine (RATM) was forced to cancel the rest of their North American tour due to an injury that vocalist Zach de la Rocha suffered while on stage.

The lead singer took to the band's Instagram to announce the news.

"It’s been almost three months since Chicago, and I still look down at my leg in disbelief," he shared, referencing a leg injury he sustained during a show at the United Center back in July.

RATM has been on their Public Service Announcement tour, which saw the band reunite after an 11-year hiatus.

"Two years of waiting through the pandemic, hoping we would have an opening to be a band again and continue the work we started 30 some odd years ago," de la Rocha continued. "Rehearsing, training, reconciling, working our way back to form. Then one and a half shows into it and my tendon tears."

"I have a severe tear in my left Achilles tendon and only 8% of my tendon was left intact," he explained. "And even that portion was severely compromised. It’s not simply a question of being able to perform again, but extends to basic functionality going forward."

The injury forced the band to cancel the European leg of the tour back in August, and the shows the band did play had the vocalist seated towards the front of the stage instead of jumping around and working the stage.

Rage Against the Machine promised that all ticket purchases will be refunded, but fans would love nothing more than to see Zack heal up and allow the band to hit the road again.
