"Nothing but crap": Razzie Awards heap the stink on Oscar noms week

Los Angeles, California – While the newly announced Oscar nominations have Hollywood buzzing about the flicks of the last year, their jokester counterpart the Razzie Awards have once again beat them to the punch – and the stink is real.

As the self-proclaimed "ugly cousin to the Oscars," the 42nd annual Razzies have recognized the "crap streaming, beaming, and steaming from our various screens and devices" in 2021.

In keeping with Razzie tradition of announcing its nominations for the "worst" and holding its own ceremony just ahead of the Academy Awards, the annual bash fest dropped its nom bombs earlier this week – and did not hold back.

This year surprisingly finds two Hollywood darlings, Bruce Willis and Amy Adams, leading the unlucky pack. Both are nominated for their multiple movie performances – Adams for two and Willis for eight. For his body of work that gave "more Bruce Willis than any starving viewer could stomach," the Razzies have bestowed Willis with a category all to himself: Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie.

Some other famous faces up for a Golden Raspberry statue this year include Ben Affleck, Nick Cannon, Mel Gibson, and Megan Fox for her role in Midnight in the Switchgrass – the ill-fated film that sparked her love affair with Machine Gun Kelly.

Even athletes were unable to steer clear of the Razzie wrath. LeBron James slam dunked a Worst Actor nomination for his turn in Space Jam 2. He was joined by fellow nominees Scott Eastwood, Roe Hartrampf, Ben Platt, and Mark Wahlberg.

Worst Picture of 2021 highlighted Netflix's The Woman in the Window and gave Space Jam: A New Legacy another nod. It also added two lesser known flops, Infinite and Karen, into the mix.

But the Netflix taping of the stage show Diana the Musical – a Broadway misfire which quickly opened and shut last year – made waves as not only a Worst Film, but the title with the most Razzie nominations, nine, of any this year.

Other Razzie gems featured two noms for Jared Leto as both Worst Supporting Actor and as Worst Screen Couple, paired together with "either His 17-pound Latex Face, His Geeky Clothes, or His Ridiculous Accent" in House of Gucci.

1,128 members from 49 states and over two dozen countries make up the Razzie voting body. This year's winners – or debatably losers – will be announced on Oscar Eve, Saturday, March 26th.
