If the two accept, it could signal a possible return to normalized family relations. After Harry (36) and Meghan (39) revealed shocking details of the stress and hardship caused by living under palace rules, it seemed that they might have permanently damaged ties with the royal family.

But the Daily Mail is now reporting that the couple has been asked to visit London together next summer to celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee.

The 95-year-old monarch will have been in power for 70 years in the summer of 2022, and the occasion needs to be celebrated properly.

At previous celebrations, members of the royal family have stood on the palace balcony and had their pictures taken by photographers as crowds cheered them on.

Now, a couple of pressing questions arise: will Meghan and Harry accept the invitation? And most importantly, will they be allowed to join the rest of their family for the traditional balcony photos?

According to the British tabloid's assessment, the latter is unlikely. After all, the two have officially stepped down from their royal duties. The fact that Prince Harry is Queen Elizabeth II's grandson doesn't change the photo-op likely being limited to working royals.

But a final decision has yet to be made. The main celebrations will be held next summer from, June 2 to 5.

Major celebrations are planned across England

It seems certain that Meghan and Harry will not miss the festivities, despite disputes within the family and Harry's decision to air even more dirty laundry about his childhood in interviews recently.

England is already eagerly anticipating the ceremonies, with pageants and bonfires set to take place everywhere during the first week of June 2022, with numerous church services paying tribute to the Queen after her years of reign.

Harry and Meghan have not yet commented on the invitation, but they will be returning in greater numbers than when they left: Meghan recently gave birth to her second child after Archie (2): a daughter, Lilibet Diana.

Together with his brother William (39), he will be unveiling a statue in memory of their mother Princess Diana (†36) on Thursday.
