Los Gatos, California - Stranger Things fans, rejoice! New details have emerged about an unexpected kind of spin-off series to come for the Netflix hit, and it will have an artistic twist.

Though the original series is set to conclude with an upcoming fifth and final season, it looks like the story of the Upside Down won't end there.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have been teasing the possibility of a spin-off for a while, but they hesitated to provide specific details — until now!

What's on Netflix has reported that an anime spin-off series is in the works at the streamer. The show is reportedly going to be titled Stranger Things Tokyo.

The spin-off will follow twin brothers living in 1980s Tokyo who come into contact with the Upside Down.

Stranger Things Tokyo will be six hours long and is expected to be the first of multiple spin-off projects.

Back in July, the Duffer Brothers first confirmed plans for a spin-off series set within the world of Stranger Things.

During an appearance on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, the pair confirmed that although the spin-off will be set in the same world, it'll be "1000% different" from the original series.

"I've read these rumors that there's gonna be an Eleven spin-off, that there's gonna be a Steve and Dustin spin-off, or that it's another number," Matt Duffer said.

"That's not interesting to me because we've done all that. We've spent I don't know how many hours exploring all of that. So it's very different. The most important connective tissue, I would say, is the storytelling sensibility of it," he continued.

While an anime spin-off may not be what fans expected, it's likely in good hands with the Duffers.

In addition to the spin-off series, the brothers have revealed plans for a stage play set within the Stranger Things world, which will be produced by Sonia Friedman and Stephen Daldry.
