Bachelor in Paradise: relationships implode on part one of the season 8 finale

Sayulita, Mexico - In part one of Bachelor in Paradise's season 8 finale, couples were put to the test and while some made it out alive, others faltered in major ways.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

When Paradise bartender and Bachelor Nation alum Wells Adams said things were going to get wild, we naturally didn't believe him. But as we quickly found out, he wasn't lying.

After an unnecessary 10-minute season recap from our hero AKA Wells, it was time to get things rolling. What better way to cause disarray in part one of the finale than by canceling the cocktail party and heading straight into the rose ceremony?

Sure, there were some strong couples on BIP's eighth season – we're looking at you Brandon Jones and Serene Russell – but others begged to be broken up, such as Genevieve Parisi and Aaron Clancy, and Kate Gallivan and Logan Seagull.

However, only one of these two couples made it through the rose ceremony, and surprisingly it was Aaron and Genevieve after Kate denied Logan's rose in savage, gaslighting style. At this point, we expected nothing less from her.

But as any BIP viewer knows, when it rains in Paradise – it pours.

Tensions rise on part one of Bachelor in Paradise's season 8 finale

Victoria Fuller (l) and Johnny DePhillpo confessed their love for each other, but will it be enough?

It was clear that Logan's departure hit his former Paradise flame AKA Shanae Ankney hard, which in turn led her to call it quits with young gun Joey Young and dip out for good.

Brittany Galvin and Tyler Norris finally dropped the L-bomb and proceeded to leave the beach together to give the real world a try sans an engagement ring. Honestly, this is something that the franchise should normalize during The Bachelor and The Bachelorette because the idea of forced engagements after a matter of weeks is beyond played out.

To no surprise for anyone who's watched a second of BIP's eighth season, Aaron and Genevieve ended up parting ways, but of course, this was done in the most dramatic and utterly toxic fashion.

When Genevieve said, "I'm gonna need so much therapy after this, it's not even funny," we felt that.

Though Victoria Fuller and her Paradise boo Johnny DePhillipo declared their love for, and dedication to each other in part one of the season 8 finale, we're still not convinced things don't hit the fan before they dip out of Mexico. you know, considering the fact she's been spotted with Bachelorette alum Greg Grippo on numerous occasions.

See how this dumpster fire of a Bachelor in Paradise season ends when part two of the finale airs on Tuesday at 8 PM EST on ABC.
