How I Met Your Mother spin-off gets Disney favorite as lead star!
Los Angeles, California - The hit series "How I Met Your Mother" is getting a spin-off! How I Met Your Father will be led by a former Disney star.
Hilary Duff (33) of Lizzy McGuire fame has landed the role in the spin-off: "Today's the day, the news came out that I'm going to be shooting How I Met Your Father" Duff said in a video shared on her Instagram.
According to Deadline, streaming service Hulu announced this week that it was gearing up production on 10 episodes of the series How I Met Your Father.
The creators of the original series, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, are on boad, and they are joined by This Is Us showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
"I'm playing the role of Sophie," Duff said in her video. "I'm really excited to dig in, to start finding out who Sophie is going to be." She will also be a producer on the series.
How I Met Your Mother ran for nine hugely successful seasons on CBS and ended in 2014.
