Amazon Prime Video's new trailer for LOTR: The Rings of Power gives you a glimpse of the story before the events in The Hobbit and the Lord of The Rings trilogy.

So far, we know that the show will take you to places that are referenced with awe during the LOTR trilogy, like dwarf kingdoms, the human city of Númenor, and even out to sea.

Galadriel, a wise and powerful elven sorceress in the movies, gets to be a protagonist as a brash and hotheaded badass, and she'll have to share screen time with what looks like a massive cast of diverse characters to tell the story of how author J.R.R. Tolkien's heroes and villains created the Rings of Power.

The budget for the show is projected by Vanity Fair to be in the billions, including hundreds of millions of dollars for usage rights in New Zealand, which is where the original trilogy was shot.

That funding could help showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay juggle a massive amount of characters and locations.

"This is a title that we imagine could live on the spine of a book next to J.R.R. Tolkien’s other classics. The Rings of Power unites all the major stories of Middle-earth’s Second Age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor, and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men," the two said back in January.

"Until now, audiences have only seen on-screen the story of the One Ring – but before there was one, there were many… and we’re excited to share the epic story of them all."
