Oo la la! Netflix favorite inspires viewers to learn French

Paris, France - A lot more people have been inspired to learn a new language, thanks to this Netflix series.

Since the second season of Emily in Paris was released on Netflix, the demand for French language courses on Babbel has increased by 50%, the language learning platform announced on Friday.

They compared the daily registrations for the language courses in the week after new episodes dropped to the numbers from the previous year.

The platform noted an increased interest in French after the launch of the first season.

Then around 30% more registrations were recorded, showing there was a notable increase after the release of season 2.

The new episodes, which aired on Netflix starting December 22, are about young American named Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins, 32) who has moved to Paris for her job. She regularly creates awkward moments for herself in both her professional and personal life.

French viewers have called out the series for stereotyping life in their capital city. Nevertheless, the show has amassed a sizable following of devoted fans.
