Lafayette, Louisiana - Kimberly Wellman-Rich, a 34-year-old teacher from Louisiana, will stand trial for what she allegedly did to a 15-year-old exchange student.

She was supposed to be his host, but is now accused of becoming a lot more than that. The two allegedly reportedly became intimate with each other.

The investigation into the case was launched after someone made an anonymous report on January 22, alleging Wellman-Rich had sex with a teenage exchange student.

During the subsequent investigation, police officers received information from several witnesses that Jeffery Rich (36), Kimberly Wellman-Rich's husband, was aware of his wife's sexual relationship with the student.

According to KATC, the couple also allegedly supplied the boy with alcohol and cannabis.

Now the 34-year-old has been convicted of charges including felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Her husband faces charges of aiding and abetting.

Both have been released on bond.

In an official statement, the Lafayette Parish School System came forward and said they were aware of the allegations and were taking the situation seriously.

"LPSS is fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation."

Pan Atlantic, the company responsible for foreign exchange students, also issued a statement.

"We have been working with the student, the student's natural family and all stakeholders to ensure the student's safety, and the privacy of all concerned."
