Ethan S achieved a goal that seemed all but impossible: he reached his target weight.

His weight loss journey wasn't easy. It took him about a year and a half to shed the excess pounds. But he was able to change his diet and start exercising. Eventually, all of his hard work paid off.

Now, he's happy with his body and he shared his story on Reddit, with the hopes of motivating others.

But not everyone was inspired by his fantastic achievement. Some users were just flat out mean, but Ethan had a creative way to deal with these negative comments.

In a recent post, he wrote: "I post my weight loss pics on reddit to motivate others. A few redditors are upset my posts keep hitting front page and send me mean messages/comments. So naturally, I got some of them printed on a shirt to use in my latest post."

Ethan also included a photo of him wearing a shirt with all the negative comments printed on it.

Reddit user fights hate with humor

The comments on the shirt say, "He's still fat" or "He'll gain in back with in 5 years." It's clear that Ethan has had to deal with a lot of backlash while trying to motivate others.

But Ethan's method for dealing with the mean messages is praiseworthy, even if he doesn't want the attention. The end of his post said "Don't upvote this, it'll upset them and I'll have to get more shirts."

But his post went viral in no time, and now it has more than 150,000 upvotes and in the comments. Fellow Reddit users encouraged him to continue sharing his story on the forum.

"F*** the haters, you look great," one user wrote.

Another user wrote, "Yeesh reddit is a horrible place, congrats on looking past that though and making it into something you can laugh at."

Here's hoping Ethan continues to fight the hate he gets online with humor and new t-shirts. Maybe he will even make one highlighting some of the nicer comments.
