California bakers recreate an iconic Han Solo moment!

Benicia, California - It took a month, but one bold mother-and-daughter baking duo created a real marvel out of bread dough. They call it Pan Solo, of course, because the baked sculpture is modeled after Han Solo!

A week ago, Hannalee Pervan and her mother Catherine of the California-based One House Bakery placed their six-foot tall bread based sculpture outside their shop next with a sign that read: "Our hero Pan Solo has been trapped in Levainite by the evil Java the Hut."

The sculpture turned more than a few heads.

Hannalee, the shop’s co-owner and head baker, told The New York Times that passersby are "super interested by it, and you see people smelling it and poking it."

"They kind of don’t believe you that it’s made out of dough," she added.

But it is.

Catherine and Hannalee's "Pan solo," which is modeled after Han Solo as frozen in carbonite during Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, is in fact made out of flour, water, and sugar.

Pan Solo took a whole month of work and some tricky construction to complete.

The bread based hero is made of special dough called dead dough because it's yeast free.

Hannalee based Pan Solo's figure on her own and once the bakers had the body based, they put it onto a plywood board and layered with dough to get all the details right.

To say that there was a lot of patience involved would be an understatement. At one point, Hanalee's mom told her to walk away from the creation because she was obsessing too much over Han's lips.

The two came up with their creation for the local Downtown Scarecrow Contest, which encourages local businesses to put up creative scarecrows for Halloween.

This isn't the first time the two self-described science fiction fanatics have fashioned a masterpiece for the contest.

In 2021, they made a creepy alligator made of bread inspired by the Marvel television series Loki. They called it "Dough-ki," of course.
