Just one week after traveling to the Lone Star State to campaign for congressional candidates Greg Casar and Jessica Cisneros, the Massachusetts senator has cast her eyes on another Texas progressive – Alton native Michelle Vallejo.

Vallejo is running to represent Texas' 15th congressional district. After the latest redistricting cycle, the incumbent representative, Vicente Gonzalez, decided to run in the neighboring Texas-34 district.

A community organizer with a palpable passion for her South Texas home, Vallejo is running to increase minimum wages, expand affordable and accessible education, pass Medicare for All, and create more humane immigration and border policies, among other progressive priorities.

Her vision has clearly caught the attention of Warren, who tweeted on Monday, "As the daughter of immigrants, a fierce community advocate, and a small business owner, @MichelleVforTX understands the unique needs of her district."

"She has the experience to hold this crucial swing seat, and I am proud to be supporting her in Texas’ 15th District," Warren continued.

"I’m so honored to be endorsed by @ewarren. ¡Vamos Por Quince!" Vallejo tweeted in response. "I’m running for #TX15 because I believe we need to put the needs of working-class people first, and I’m ready to do that every single day in Capitol Hill."

If she wins the March 1 Democratic primary, Vallejo will take on the district's Republican nominee in the general election in November 2022.
