NBA 2022-23 season schedule: The top games to look out for
New York, New York - On Wednesday, the NBA unveiled its full schedule for 2022-23. From marquee opening matchups to holiday games, here's what will have hoop fans on the edge of their seats this season!
In the first week of the season, the NBA will feature 11 national TV games including two doubleheaders across three networks: TNT, ESPN, and NBA TV.
The regular season will begin on Tuesday, October 18 with a double header on TNT.
In the very first tipoff, the Philadelphia 76ers will face off against reigning Eastern Conference champions Boston Celtics at 7:30 PM EDT at TD Garden.
Later that night, at 10 PM, the defending champions from the Golden State Warriors will receive their championship rings before hosting the Los Angeles Lakers led by legend LeBron James.
Overall, opening week will showcase a total of 12 different teams and three rematches from last season's NBA Playoffs.
NBA holiday games
As confirmed by the NBA earlier this week, no games have been scheduled for Election Day on Tuesday, November 8, as part of an initiative to promote voter participation.
Instead, all 30 teams will play the preceding Monday, while sharing resources and highlighting their local civil engagement work.
As for Christmas, five games will be played on the holiday.
Starting the festive program will be the New York Knicks, who will host the Philadelphia 76ers for a noon tipoff.
After that, the Lakers will be visiting the Dallas Mavericks, the Celtics will host the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Memphis Grizzlies will make their Christmas Day debut against the Warriors. These last two games are respective rematches of the 2022 East and West conference semifinals.
The Christmas Day schedule will conclude with the Denver Nuggets in a head-to-head against the Phoenix Suns in Denver.
The full schedule for all 30 teams is now up on the NBA website.
