For the first time this season, Ohio State's CJ Stroud was able to get a much-needed rest during the Week 7 slate of games as the Buckeyes had their bye week.

Easily separating himself from the pack of athletes on the field, Stroud's absence this week doesn't change the fact that he's still the country's best.

In case you forgot, the Buckeye is coming off of a historic Week 6 performance that set new Big Ten records.

And while it's always a little less exciting without Stroud in the mix, the week still delivered enough sports madness to go around.

For the second consecutive week, Hooker remains above the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, who is returning from injury.

In classy fashion, Tennessee outscored Alabama on the field over the weekend for the first time in 15 years – hence why Hooker has risen in the rankings.

And their win wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for Volunteers star receiver Jalin Hyatt, who enters this week's ranking for the first time. Hyatt dominated in Neyland Stadium, breaking more than three program records for his outstanding play.

Officially through the first part of the college football season, here's what our TAG24 player rankings look like at the halfway mark:

1. CJ Stroud – QB, Ohio State

2. Hendon Hooker – QB, Tennessee

3. Bryce Young – QB, Alabama (-1)

4. Emeka Egbuka – WR, Ohio State

5. Julian Flemming – WR, Ohio State

6. Blake Corum – RB, Michigan (+4)

7. DJ Uiagalelei – QB, Clemson

8. Bijan Robinson – RB, Texas (+1)

9. Will Anderson – LB, Alabama (-3)

10. Jalin Hyatt - WR, Tennessee (n)

The world of college football knew that Wolverine Blake Corum was good, but not this good.

Leading the nation in rushing touchdowns with 13, Corum has become one of the best running backs we've seen all season long.

Steadily improving his game and remaining consistent with his performances each week, the Junior has most recently made gotten some buzz to receive a possible Heisman nomination.

Since 2000, only three non-quarterback players have ever won the Heisman Trophy - all three being running backs. Of the last 10 winners, Alabama's Derrick Henry was the only running back to win the trophy, in 2015.

While it is still early to mark the four finalist as we're only halfway though the season, Corum is arguably the best rushing player in the nation.

His biggest test yet will come on November 26 when Michigan faces their biggest rival Ohio State in Columbus. The matchup is expected to be the top game that will cause the biggest disruption in playoff seeding.

Entering a bye weekend during Week 8 of the season, the Wolverines will suit up next on October 29 at 7:30 PM EST against Michigan State.
