College football: Top 10 team rankings after Week 10

New York, New York - If the college football national championship game were to take place tomorrow, the Georgia Bulldogs would likely be in it after making a strong case to be the named best team in the country after their performance last weekend.

After beating the Tennessee Volunteers in classy fashion, the Georgia Bulldogs are the top team in our rankings heading into the 11th week of the season.

Georgia owned Week 10. Period!

Not only did the Bulldogs utterly embarrass Tennessee in their hugely antiquated matchup last weekend, but Georgia looked the absolute best out of all the teams that played during Week 10 of the college football season.

To no surprise, the defending champions now sit as the top team in our rankings, surpassing the Vols and the Buckeyes who struggled pretty badly.

Ohio State shockingly only scored 21 points against 1-8 Northwestern and did not show many characteristics of a national champion-winning team.

Still, the Buckeyes only move one spot down in our rankings. As many know, the Buckeyes are, well, still the Buckeyes and a far better team than what we saw on Saturday. Not to mention, they did play in horrendously windy conditions that gravely affected the team's passing game.

After a surprising upset to unranked Notre Dame, Clemson got booted out of our top four and top 10 rankings thanks to Michigan, TCU, Oregon, and USC, who all walked away with big wins on Saturday.

Michigan and TCU surprising trailed their teams for the majority of their games, but fought to the finish to earn another win to prolong their unbeaten streak this season.

Joining the rankings for the first time this season is the SEC's LSU, who edged Alabama in an insanely dramatic, one-point overtime win. The Tigers not only control the conference's West division, but they are also projected to enter the SEC championship game and just might even make the playoffs – with the help of the top team's losing more games, of course.

As usual, here are our TAG24 top 10 team rankings after Week 10 of the season:

1. Georgia

2. Ohio State

3. Michigan

4. TCU

5. Tennessee

6. Oregon

7. USC

8. LSU

9. UCLA

10. Alabama

Will Georgia win back-to-back championship titles?

When the season started, Alabama was undoubtedly No. 1 in the rankings and the talk of the college football preseason.

As things moved along, Tennessee stole our hearts after upsetting the Crimson Tide and then earning the No. 1 spot in the first College Football Playoff Rankings.

Now, after Week 10, the college football world has chucked their orange jerseys to rock that Bulldog red.

Nothing Georgia did on Saturday was quite remarkable on a micro level, but in the big (read: playoffs) picture, their win was outstanding.

Play after play, all 11 Bulldogs who took the field held their own and got the job done.

They didn't over perform or underperform – they simply performed, and consistency is what sets a championship caliber team apart from the pack.

The Bulldogs are currently 9-0 and have two wins against top-eight opponents.

While it's still a little early to call the top four playoff teams, Georgia fans should prepare for a trip to the SEC championship game.

Next up, the Georgia Bulldogs will take on Kentucky on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET.
