Is Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman making a big switch-up to Notre Dame?

Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Wake Forest football starting quarterback Sam Hartman is reportedly entering the transfer portal, with the strong possibility of landing in South Bend at Notre Dame.

The ACC record-breaking quarterback spent the last five seasons with the Demon Deacons and elevated the team to new heights during his time.

In 45 games across the five seasons, the 23-year-old threw for 110 touchdowns and 12,967 passing yards, while leading the program to a 27–18 record.

During his time in Winston-Salem, Hartman set the all-time ACC record for the most touchdown passes, and will leave the program as the greatest quarterback in Wake Forest history.

After Notre Dame lost its starting quarterback Drew Pyne to Arizona State and its new head coach Kenny Dillingham last week, Hartman looks to be the strongest available transfer candidate for the Irish's open passer position.

If Hartman transfers to Notre Dame, he will immediately become a favorite to start next season.

While Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner opened 2022 as the team’s starter, he suffered a shoulder injury in September which kept him sidelined the rest of the season.
