Will TCU's Kendre Miller play? It's down to the wire at the National Championship

Los Angeles, California - While TCU starter Kendre Miller may be facing a tough injury heading into the College Football Playoff National Championship showdown, it most likely won't keep the determined starter sidelined in the championship game.

Miller, who is nursing a sprained MCL in his right knee, said that he is about half healed, leaving the star running back a 50-50 chance of playing in Monday's championship game against Georgia.

Throughout the weekend in Los Angeles ahead of the game, Miller has been wearing a brace on his right knee and has participated in practices and team warm-ups.

Miller revealed that TCU team doctors have left his playing status up to him. The junior said that his injury continues to improve every day, but nobody is going to force him to play if it's not right.

"I'm going to definitely try," Miller told reporters about wanting to play in the CFP Championship. "It's kind of like a 50-50, but I'll most definitely suit up either way and try."

He added: "If it's not stabilized, I wouldn't feel comfortable going out there and playing."

Head Coach Sonny Dikes will make a decision for Miller on game day

Head coach Sonny Dykes revealed during the coaches press conference that Miller's availability for Monday's championship game will depend on his final practice ahead of the big showdown.

On Sunday, TCU's first-year head coach Sonny Dykes chimed in on Miller's injury status, saying that his playing on Monday will depend on his practice.

"We'll have a run through today that's our typical Friday run-through, the day before the game, full speed run-through," Dykes told reporters in a press conference. "We'll get a really good sense of what he can and can't do today, and then make a decision."

All season long, Miller has carried the team's running backs on his shoulders, leading the program with a huge 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns.

In the case he cannot play on Monday, senior rusher Emari Demercado will be expected to step in and carry the bulk of the load against the Georgia Bulldogs.

During the Horned Frogs' semifinal Fiesta Bowl win against Michigan, Demercado posted 17 carries for a career-high 150 yards, recovered a lost fumble, and scored a touchdown after replacing Miller, who left the game due to injury.

TCU will look to win their first national title in 83 years on Monday against the Georgia at 7:30 PM EST at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
