Gregg Popovich's men were not troubled at all in Saitama with the Portland Trail Blazers' Lillard scoring all his 21 points from three-point range and Zach Levine tallying eight assists.

The US team had lost their opening match 83-76 against the French, which was a first defeat in the sport for its dominant nation since the 2004 semi-finals.

The final group match against the Czech Republic should also pose no problem before real tests await Kevin Durant and company in the knock-out stages.

"Today we came out with more freedom as individuals and took the shots that we normally like to take, and they went in tonight, and we guarded up, so it was a good step," Durant said.

"Damian came out, got it scorching for us, so we're gonna need that going forward."

France were playing the Czechs later Wednesday in Group A.

In Group B, Germany got their first win after an opening loss to Italy, 99-92 over Nigeria. Italy play Australia in the day's other game.
