Driver pulled over on highway for Starlink internet dish bolted to the front of his car

Palmdale, California - They say red cars get pulled over more often. But in this case last week, a California Highway Patrol pulled over a Prius because something more than just its color grabbed their attention.

One entrepreneur actually ran bolts through the hood of his Prius to stabilize the Starlink dish with a cable running over the hood into the car door.

Elon Musk's Starlink satellite system has been a boon so far to people who have not had a good internet connection. Starlink boasts high-speed connectivity to virtually anywhere on earth, and requires a kit to be installed on top of a building for the best reception.

But for one businessman, that Starlink connection was worth possibly dying for!

California Highway Patrol for Antelope Valley posted photos of the attention-drawing spectacle last week. On Facebook, Officer T. Caton says he pulled over a red Prius for having a visual obstruction on the hood and asked if it blocked the driver's view.

The response: "Only when I make right turns".

And though the kit was designed for houses, according to CNBC, the driver said he needed the mounted receiver dish to have an internet connection for a business he operated out of his vehicle.

The rig was of course in violation of California driving laws, which prohibit any alterations to a vehicle that can obstruct views.

It wasn't clear why the driver had bolted the dish to his hood, unless he spends a significant amount of time in the desert, away from phone towers that could provide 5G LTE for an internet hotspot.

It's amazing that the wind didn't catch the dish and pull the hood up altogether while he was driving!
