Is Apple officially pulling the plug on the classic iMac Pro?

Cupertino, California - The latest Apple news might come as a shock to fans of the tech brand: the iMac Pro is officially retiring as Apple will discontinue its production. But long-time users have no reason to despair just yet!

The iMac Pro was designed to meet high demands. With a fast Intel Xeon processor, a sharp Ultra HD 4K display on 27-inch and an expandable 32 GB memory, it has long been a safe choice among gamers and high-end editors. That is, if they were willing to spend $4,999 on the classic.

The computer was last revamped in March 2020, equipped with new processors, a better graphics chip, and an SSD disk. The update came just a few months before the Mac Pro with Apple's in-house M1 processor went on sale.

But most recently, customers were rubbing their eyes in disbelief at the sight of an unusual note under the only currently available iMac Pro model, which reads "while supplies last."

It's an official sign that the iMac Pro is on the way out, as all other build-to-order configurations for the product have been removed from Apple’s site.

Apple has confirmed to The Verge that once supplies of the base model run out, iMac Pro will indeed no longer be available.

A redesigned model of the iMac Pro may be released this year

The news comes just four years after the iMac Pro was first released to the market.

However, it doesn't come as a surprise as rumors have been swirling for months that a fully redesigned iMac is on the way and would be released at some point this year.

Bloomberg reported in January that the new version would eliminate the giant chin beneath the screen, and have a flat-back design.

When exactly the tech giant will be launching new Macs is still unclear. But if you want an iMac Pro, you'd better hurry before it becomes a collector's gem.
