Trucks collision leaves British road looking like the set of a horror movie

Cambridge, UK - A semi-trailer carrying tons of tomatoes and olive oil made for a major roadside mess when it collided with another truck, jack-knifed, and spilled it's contents in a giant red landslide.

A double semi-trailer crash shut down an English highway for hours after the jack-knifed trucks spilled their delicious contents across the roadway, which required a massive clean-up operation.

The accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the A14 near Godmanchester, around 75 miles north of London.

Two semi-trailers were carrying tons of tomatoes and olive oil, turning the highway into a very literal red sea, parted only by a concrete median.

The mess shut down the road for 23 miles, from Cambridge to Brampton, while workers struggled to figure out how to clean up the flowing combination of crushed tomatoes, and gallons of olive oil. If only a truck carrying pasta had been on-hand!

It's not clear if workers simply shoveled the mess off onto the nearby grassy embankment, or if the super-sized sauce had to be trucked away.

The westbound lane was not reopened to traffic until about 1 PM Wednesday.

The local police of Cambridge poked fun at the accident, writing on Twitter, "What looked like the set of a horror film was actually thousands of squashed tomatoes."
