Dog was terrified by the shelter – and her reaction to finding a loving home has everyone crying!
Houston, Texas - A dog that spent many frightened days in a shelter had the most incredible reaction to finding a home.
Madison, a native Canadian who moved to Houston almost ten years ago, loves looking after dogs.
Initially, she was only involved in the Harris County Pets shelter on the side, but now she regularly adopts out dogs to give them a good life.
This includes one special dog, as she told Newsweek.
"Concha was found as a stray on the streets of Houston and was picked up by an Animal Control Officer," Masidon said. "She was terrified at the shelter."
The four-legged friend spent almost 60 days in a place that can accommodate up to 350 dogs at a time.
You often hear loud barking, and strangers are constantly walking past the animals, which is exactly what frightened Concha so much. Madison recognized this immediately and knew that she had to do something urgently.
"While volunteering at the shelter I took her out to the yard and she was such a good girl," said the Canadian.
"So calm and gentle, yet absolutely terrified. You could see it in her face. I pulled out a tennis ball and it was like the kid in her came out. I knew she was easily adoptable and had to help her."
Has rescue dog finally found a forever home?
The dog had to be helped as quickly as possible, so Madison found a foster family to take the four-legged friend in until she found a long-term home.
"When we arrived at where she was going to be staying, I sat down on the couch and she jumped up and laid next to me and put her head on my leg with her paw over her face," Madison said.
"She was absolutely exhausted and needed rest and this was the first time she had felt safe in months," she continued.
The helper captured the sweet reaction in a TikTok video.
Just two weeks later, a couple from Iowa made the long journey to pick up Concha and lovingly take her in for life.
