Pregnant woman loses her baby because of failed prank

Bargoed, UK - This prank backfired badly. When friends of a British woman drove off with her car as a joke, it led to a terrible tragedy.

As the Daily Mail reports, Keely Harrison (20) and wanted to play a harmless prank on her friend Megan Meredith. When the 22-year-old got out of her car to throw away some garbage, Harrison and others in the backseat locked her out and tried to take off with her Ford KA. 

Meredith reacted instinctively and threw herself in front the car to stop the "theft". She tried to grab hold of the windshield wipers, but she slipped and fell onto the street. 

Despite her cries of pain, her friends simply kept on driving.

According to the Daily Mail, Harrison had accelerated up to 19mph before braking abruptly.

The injured Meredith had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

There, she heard the shocking news: she had been pregnant, but her baby couldn't be saved .

In addition to the tragic loss of her unborn child, Meredith suffered multiple fractures and had to recover at the hospital for two weeks.

"I'm not the person I was before and I don't think I'll ever be the same person again," she told the Mail.

Harrison pleaded guilty to causing the accident and was sentenced to 18-months suspended sentence, a two-year driving ban, and 180 hours of community service.

Her lawyer confirmed that she and Meredith are no longer friends.
