Alaska's Denali is the tallest peak in North America, reaching 20,310 feet above sea level. The name "Denali" comes from the Indigenous Koyukon people and means "the tall one." For nearly a century, the US colonial government referred to the peak as Mount McKinley, after President William McKinley, before officially recognizing the name Denali in 2015.
